Home to hippies and the Spaceman
Over the decades, many groups have flocked to the town of Ocean Beach (OB): Artists, hippies, grassroots activists and small-batch brewers.
Mike James arrived to OB in 1976. Since then he has lived in eight different spots, crisscrossing around town from Muir avenue all the way down to Del Monte avenue. At the age of twenty, James moved in with his brother; possessing no car or closed-toed shoes, just a skateboard and flip-flops.
A year into the two living together, James’ brother came running into their apartment,
“Mike! You gotta meet this guy he calls himself the Spaceman!”

Mary Paul, vice president of SLAF, emailed all Point Loma Nazarene University undergraduate students in April, introducing them to the new program.
Student Spotlight: Annabelle Young Takes Steps Toward The Film Industry

Third-year media communication major, Annabelle Young, has been working in the film industry while receiving her undergraduate degree with an emphasis on film production. Young hopes to become an actor and has been in Los Angeles on the set of a television sitcom doing background work and has recently landed her first principal role on the show. Due to legal restrictions, the show title cannot be named.
The Future of the OB Pier

The Ocean Beach (OB) Municipal Pier has been closed since October 2023 as a result of the structural damage it has undergone from numerous storms that have hit San Diego, California. A notice has been posted at the site detailing that a claim has been filed for demolition with the city of San Diego.
